Marble Pajamas, Pearls and More

“… a feeling of alert calm. With a sure eye.” – Jean Nouvel on Andrée Putman

Here at the Slow and Steady Wins the Race studio, we took a moment to reflect on the living archive we built over the last ten years in order to decide what new designs to propose next. While we reviewed and sketched some more, one of the world’s greatest passed on– and one of our personal heroes– Andrée Putman. We had planned to hold meetings at Morgans Hotel two seasons ago, and now it seemed even more relevant.

Without further ado, we invite you to stop by. Alongside some classic core offerings, such as White T and Sweats we will be presenting Marble Pajamas as an addition to LUXE, yet they can stand alone as a suite of three marble prints we made into men’s style pajamas, eye mask, slippers and a robe to round out the collection.

Another new style to our Standard Bag collection is our elevated rendition on the drug store bag. Replacing the plastic clip handles with silver metal ones, recreating the square body in materials such as pony, sherling, and melton. More square iterations will debut as our reactions to the now ubiquitous clutch. New luxe bags will add to our reinterpretation on luxury design.

The curated palette will be black, white, pearl, new grey, and a shock of deep blue all in homage to Ms. Putman. Ultimately, the spirit of the mission for the new capsule collections continue to be ‘one plus one equals three’, reimagining the generic into something more iconic. This is our visual vernacular.

Slow and Steady Wins the Race is an investigation into the basic elements of what we wear with a strong design belief that things can be timely and timeless, unique and universal, ageless and cross-cultural. The label’s mission is to re-envision the generic by elevating it to the iconic.
