In Waves: Arp + RO/LU + Paul Clipson
September 7 – October 5, 2014
Opening Reception Sunday, September 7th, 6-8pm at Jack Hanley Gallery
In this collective group installation, featuring RO/LU’s moveable sculptures, a sound installation by Arp (aka Alexis Georgopoulos), and Paul Clipson’s 16mm film, each artist presents work that refutes the idea of stasis. Georgopoulos, who has collaborated with both RO/LU (Walker Art Center 2012; Aspen Institute 2013) and Clipson (Berkeley Art Museum 2011; New York Film Festival 2012), proposed the three contribute independent works that could work both as singular pieces and in tandem—a sum greater than its parts.
RO/LU 4 Patrick Parrish (after Imi) is a group of objects and custom pieces commissioned by the gallery for their new location on 50 Lispenard St in Tribeca. The pieces, along with a 28′ long x 15′ tall set of bookshelves and matching 3 person desk are all made from Masonite to express our love for Imi Knoebel’s piece “Raum 19” and the skateboard ramps of our youth.
